Have the last chip shop before Christmas... OR IS IT? Chip Shop Adventures #128.
Bee picture yet to be drawn, expect later today. EDIT: OH WHAT UP. This here is a semi-autobiographical picture: Scared Bee #7 MERRY CHRISTMAS!
20/12/06 - Do tramps file tax forms.
This one should balance out the bare male ass a couple comics ago so here we have Chip Shop Adventures #127 AKA: Strip Shop Adventures.
It's not an epic, long animation (because it was made last night on a spur of the moment type deal) but it's still pretty damn cool and probably the cutest thing I will ever make. It loops around and is based on this Raspberry Soda comic by Beth who is not only cool, but she's no fool either. Which is a plus.
08/12/06 - The oldest trick in the book.
Here's a very sexy looking Chip Shop Adventures #124, it's chock-full of my favourite thing in the whole world! No Nautical Jones this Friday but I've been busy re-doing the earlier strips so that they'll all match, View the first 6 starting here.
Chip Shop Adventures #123 captures that awkward moment when you reveal to your friends just where the hell you've been for the last few weeks.
Will hopefully have some Nautical Jones for you this coming weekends-eve!
01/12/06 - 15 hours of sleeps.
Sorry about the rather late Chip Shop Adventures #122, if it's any compensation, it does feature ass-smacking.
Trading Bee picture #4 will appear sometime tomorrow.
Return of the gore in Chip Shop Adventures #121 so those of you with the kind of disposition that gets you raving-mad-insane-nuts at some pixelly blood halfway through the nineties, LOOK AWAY FOR GOODNESS SAKE!
Possible delay on Friday's comic and Bee Trading picture because on Thursday I'll be shooting the second Tasmin Archer music video in a fancy museum.
24/11/06 - Saving the environment.
Oh man, some pure checkout rage in Chip Shop Adventures #120. Plus it's Friday so it must mean a brand new Scared Bee trading picture has been released: RIGHT HERE BABY.
22/11/06 - TOXIC CRUSADERS YO.
We're out and about in Chip Shop Adventures #119 this Wednesday and there's nothing you can do to stop us.
If you're all about collecting limited edition trading pictures of a Bee getting scared of stuff then you've got a couple of days left to vote and get your Bee Trading picture #2. GOTTA' CATCH A COUPLE.
20/11/06 - Evil Monday.
Just a little update to say that 82 pages of comic book class has just been released in the form of the Transplanthology 1: At the End Everyone Dies. It's the perfect Christmas present for anyone who loves paper and ink.
Chip Shop Adventures #117 contains the most fashionable man in the world.
Plus if you've not voted here then chances are you won't have seen the cool picture I made for you. It'll disappear on Friday, replaced by a brand new one.
10/11/06 - Nobody can stop THEM!
Something new from this week onwards, if you vote me up over at the Top Webcomic list then you'll be rewarded with a super sneaky secret picture, huzzah!
So today we have a Secret vote picture #1 and the return of The Bee in Chip Shop Adventures #116!
Enjoy the end of the week!
08/11/06 - Paper-mache head.
If you like chips, shops, adventures, colour, guts, words or comics then you'll pass the hell out for Chip Shop Adventures #115!
03/11/06 - BOLLYWOOD FEAR.
Chip Shop Adventures #114 is raising awareness of a disease that gets little to no attention at all in the media. Shame on you media.
The links section has been updated with the Transplant comics so check them out if you've got a few minutes (or weeks, there are a lot of them) to spare. Enjoy your weekend!
01/11/06 - Get lost Halloween.
Ahh! Month number 11 has been a bit sneaky and jumped out of nowhere. No matter, because here's the bloodiest Chip Shop Adventure yet: Chip Shop Adventures #113.
31/10/06 - Happy Halloween!
That's it! I've finally caught up on the backlog of Chip Shop Adventures that built up during the making of #100.
So it's back to the normal Wednesday/Friday update schedule, I hope you've enjoyed all the one a day strips and here's Chip Shop Adventures #112. It's a much more obscure gaming reference today.
30/10/06 - LIVE SUNDAY NIGHT AMERICAN FOOTBALL.
Some more blood-soaked action in Chip Shop Adventures #111, hopefully with today's references I can snag some of that juicy gaming traffic.
Some nice big news today, Chip Shop Adventures has been taken under the sexy wing of Transplant Comics which means it'll be showcased alongside such jaw-punchingly good comics as The Blaring Foghorn,Lonely Fetus, and Toy Division.
I also get a forum. So there's tons of fun to be had if you click the link below this newsbox. Check out the talent they have there, all under one roof, it's called Toys R Us.
27/10/06 - LIVE THURSDAY NIGHT AMERICAN BASEBALL.
Try and spot some more sneaky horror film references in today's Chip Shop Adventures #110. I'm having far too much fun drawing this gory story so it may continue past Halloween on Tuesday.
Chip Shop Adventures #106 is here and in full colour! That's the way it'll be from now on (I've also gone back and coloured the strips from #101 onwards), thanks very much to the Chip Shop fans that emailed in with their views.
I'm still trying to catch up with the backlog of strips so like last week, there will be a shiny new comic everyday.
20/10/06 - Friday Ho!
Well it's been one week chock-full of Chip Shop Adventures and it'll be the same next week too so here's Chip Shop Adventures #105 to round off your week.
I've been playing around with changing the strip a little, here's today’s strip in colour, drop me an email if you think it’s the way to go, I'm still undecided.
I also popped Chip Shop Adventures #100 up on Newgrounds yesterday and it got 5th place and a spot on the front page so that's pretty slick, Check it out here.
A wise man once said to me: ' Matthew, when you create Chip Shop Adventures #103, make up some story about some old man.
17/10/06 - We continue...
Chip Shop Adventures #102 showcases my awesome skills at drawing doctors that I didn't even know I had. Must be all the Diagnosis Murder I watch.
16/10/06 - George Orson Welles.
"You asked me once," said O'Brien, "what was in Room 101. I told you that you know the answer already. Everybody knows. The thing in Room 101 is Chip Shop Adventures #101."
Stay tuned (or whatever it is when you look at a webpage) all this week because Chip Shop Adventures is getting updated every weekday for two and a half weeks.
Also appearing today is a gory guest comic of mine for Steve Wallace's excellent The Devil and Ted.
It's arrived at last, a fully animated, hand-drawn Chip Shop Adventure! There's a normal comic version too if you're some kind of hardcore Chip Shop Adventures purist, but make sure to look at the animated one first so you don't spoil it.
Also because it took me an ice age to draw (damn that Jackass’ jumper) there will be a Chip Shop Adventure comic strip every weekday until the backlog has caught up.
20/09/06 - Tasmin Archer single available from iTunes.
That's right folks, Tasmins new single is now available to download from iTunes for 79p! 79p is two bags of crisp! You don't need more crisps! You need Tasmin Archer singles!
Check the link below to go to her site, listen to some track samples and watch the video we made.
iTunes Link. Tasmin Archer website.
(Also, you become 50% cooler when you buy it). I realise there is now a backlog of Chip Shops so expect a SUPER UPDATE on Friday.
15/09/06 - Brain delays.
Apologies all round because I've had to delay Chip Shop Adventures #100 till Monday. Due to other work and parts of it not coming together very well, it's not looking it's best and only the primest of prime cuts go out to the CSA fans. So next week will have a crazy Mon - Wed - Fri update deal. To tide you over, here is a picture of Wilco, Pauls budgie.
Illness has crept up on me, it came out of nowhere like... a surprise illness. Drawing the same thing about 80 times probably hasn't helped matters.
Artsfest: The Big Birmingham Weekend starts today! From today till Sunday, a huge variety of musicians, dancers, and screenings of short films will be happening all around the city centre and it's free! On Sunday they will be showing Coffee Shop Hell in a screening at 6pm in the Birmingham Library Theatre.
You know the deal by now, one of these (Friday) = one of these: Chip Shop Adventures #96. Now divide it by a stupid September and show all your working out.
30/08/06 - Foiled by my face.
I've started work on Chip Shop Adventures #100 which should be something quite tasty, IN THE MEANTIME: Chip Shop Adventures #95.
25/08/06 - Smoking barrels.
If you're thinking of buying a DVD of the Jim Carrey film, The Majestic (rated PG) from Morrisons in Manchester, then you'll need some form of identification to show that you're over the age of 21 but luckily you won't need ID to view Chip Shop Adventures #94.
You pass me by too fast, you stupid week! My only concern is that Chip Shop Adventures #92 will not work as well on your bath scum as Cillet Bang will. I've failed you all.
Also if you sign up to Tasmin Archers newsletter, then you can check out a preview of the music video I've animated for her.
02/08/06 - Toasty hot sun.
Month number 8 already? You bet, time is going faster thanks to Global Warming. The only thing that can stop that is Chip Shop Adventures #87.
28/07/06 - Spooky haunted house yo.
I'd almost forgotten it was Friday, I've been animating classic skeletons and ghosts all night. Chip Shop Adventures #86 means you never have to say sorry.
26/07/06 - Easily the best Bond film.
So Roger Moore says "There seems to be some mistake. My name is..." and then Yaphet Kotto says "Names is for tombstones, baby! Y'all take this Chip Shop Adventures #85 out and waste him! NOW!
21/07/06 - Classic hotel action.
Some nice big news for all, Tasmin Archer is releasing a new album and single and I've been busy animating the video for it. Her website has just been updated with a sampler for the forthcoming album, called 'On', so I suggest you go check it out at this link right here:
Tasmin Archer.
I wasn't able to update your faces with Chip Shop on Wednesday because I was too busy being baked alive on a delayed, packed train which had broken air conditioning. So for this Friday we have two adventures:
Chip Shop Adventures #82 can often be found rummaging through your bins at night so watch out. I SAID WATCH OUT.
12/07/06 - Toasty hot sun.
It's getting damn hot outside now so here's Chip Shop Adventures #81 to help you cool down and because that won't actually do anything to you, have an ice lolly:
Hey! Ho! Whadya know? I KNOW PLENTY SUCH AS THIS: Chip Shop Adventures #79 If you don't know what camouflage is then it's lucky I found this old drawing of mine: CAMOUFLAGE.
30/06/06 - Coffee is only a dime.
It's the end of the week already so I'm throwing you Chip Shop Adventures #78 to start off your wonderful day. NEXT WEEK: A Flash movie...probably.
ALWAYS START YOUR DAY WITH CAPITALS or something, LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU!
It's Chip Shop Adventures #76 and he knows you stole his batteries.
Basically if you like music and you like animation then you should buy Jim Ether's film: Alert because he puts the two together very well, many times over the course of its 87 minute running time.
21/06/06 - Come back Summer!
OH WHAT? Yeah that's right, Chip Shop Adventures #75 is on the loose. I've been clearing out a load of junk from my room and I found this, I think at age 6 I captured it better than Mel Gibson did.
16/06/06 - Come back Summer!
Happy Friday! What we're dealing with here is possibly my favourite Chip Shop Adventure yet: Chip Shop Adventures #74 Not only that but here's the start of something big:
Huge props, the size of a fat whale, to Slack Video for last nights screening of my work, BUT NOW: Chip Shop Adventures #73. Expect a seafaring treat on Friday.
12/06/06 - Hull Film Screening.
Bit short notice but if you're about in Hull tonight then Slack Video are having their 3rd Birthday Party.
A whole range of short films and live musical and visual treats will be on offer as well as two of my short films, Coffee Shop Hell and The Cat That fell over. For more info, click this banner softly:
09/06/06 - Damn you ants.
Here is what I think is called a comic: Chip Shop Adventures #72. Have yourself a great weekend full of wonderful things such as pasta.
07/06/06 - Ducktales...awoowhoo.
Illness = late update. Finally the weather is getting nice and warm, which is probably the best condition to enjoy Chip Shop Adventures #71. No foolin'.
02/06/06 - 2nd day of Summer don't you know.
Another big number today, Chip Shop Adventures #70. If you're 70 years old then that's one Chip Shop Adventure for every year you've been alive. Neat.
It's got my biggest cast yet, Paul Willis, Sheena B, Mike Plant and Monosodium Chamboate and I'm off to eat some pizza now. A big thanks to Emi Kasai and Mike Vokes for the Japanese translation!
27/05/06 - Drooling on the keyboard.
Apologies for the freaky Saturday update, I've been doing some other work during the week and it's burnt me out so the John flash cartoon is almost finished, it'll be online on Monday. Chip Shop Adventures #68 is available though, a day late perhaps but unlike real chips, these won't get mouldy or stink up your kitchen.
24/05/06 - Coffee drops.
Everything's going well for the Friday Flash cartoon so expect some gore round about then. Take Chip Shop Adventures #67 four times a day to see off that nasty cough.
19/05/06 - Toothpaste won't hold bricks together.
Another Chip Shop Adventures #66 for your beautiful eyes to behold. I'm going to work like a maniac on the John cartoon to get it ready for next Friday because I haven't updated any Flash for ages, like a stone cold sucker.
17/05/06 - Where's my sun gone?
If you dig my short cartoon Coffee Shop Hell and want to own it on a shiny disc then you can pre-order a copy of TEN4 magazine (Issue 3). It's got a free DVD on the cover with Coffee Shop Hell and a whole bunch of class animations and short film work from people in the West Midlands.
CLICK HERE to go to their shop to pre-order the magazine.
Oh what a late update. I'm ill and it's probably what those guys had in the documentary Outbreak so keep away. I will throw you this from the upstairs window: Chip Shop Adventures #64.
It's my birthday tomorrow but I'm the one with a present for you: Chip Shop Adventures #61. Also expect some more Misc. comics to be added this time next week, after a huge weekend on par with this: DO NOT TELL ME YOU FORGOT ABOUT THE WORLD LEAGUE OPENER OF '91?!
28/04/06 - Moose Revolution.
I got into a taxi the other day that was like a miniature moving home, the upholstery looked like wallpaper. It didn't have Chip Shop Adventures #60 inside it though and for that it gets a D-.
26/04/06 - Back to Bristol
Once again I'm completely sleep deprived and working on several projects at once, I think it's time for a break when you could have sworn you just saw the keyboard keys bobbing up and down by themselves.
Chip Shop Adventures #58. We've updated the Chip Shop Adventures layout a little, adding Archive and Random buttons into the mix. Also if you want to bookmark Chip Shop in your favourites then this is the link to use: Click here then bookmark. That way you’ll always be taken straight to the freshest adventure.
19/04/06 - Jim Rockford eats tacos for breakfast.
Poor Little Bunny did really well at Newgrounds over the Easter weekend, it got daily 3rd place and around 33,600 views so a big hippo-sized thanks to whoever decided it went on the frontpage!
I hope huge chocolate Easter eggs rain upon you and fall inside your mouth! Chip Shop Adventures #56.
BIG FAT EDIT: A late Easter present in the form of a Flash cartoon called: Poor Little Bunny.
11/04/06 - RIGHT ON TIME.
This depressing winter has gone on too long, I'm all for rain, thunder and greyness but this is ridiculous. Much like this sunshine styled Chip Shop Adventures #55.
07/04/06 - Work update.
I'm working on three Flash animations at the moment inbetween adjusting the rough cut of the Tasmin Archer music video. One is the third Stupid Tomato cartoon, the second is about John from Coffee Shop Hell and will give you a glimpse into his dayjob, that one has voices by Paul Willis, Sheena B and Mike Plant plus special guest DJ Monosodium Chamboate.
The third is a very abstract piece of work that's a bit of an experiment, creating it with a friend, batting the ideas back and forth between us and it's becoming quite strange.
Anyway, the John cartoon will probably be online within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, have a good old chew on Chip Shop Adventures #54 and a new old-looking Nautical Jones #11.
05/04/06 - April?!
Some class news about a screening of Coffee Shop Hell, it'll be shown at the Britspotting film festival in Berlin, not only that but it’s being shown with a piece of work done by one of my favourite animators, Phil Mulloy!
Today is a bit special so we also have a whole new comic section online with strips based on the events of a particularly heavy weekend out. The new Misc. comics section awaits you!
Coffee Shop Hell will be shown as part of the SeeEasyCinema premiere at The Firefly in Worcester, it's a showcase for regional filmmakers so if you're in the area, it starts at 8pm on Monday 27th of March. Also two short films made by Mike Plant will be starting off the screening.
22/03/06 - Whales AND dolphins? Whales AND dolphins, yeah!
We're getting closer to that oh-so-magic number but not quite close enough, you'll have to make do with the next best thing: Chip Shop Adventures #49.
17/03/06 - I want more free DVDs in the papers this weekend.
What ho chaps! There's no doubt about it, Friday's here and with great Fridays comes great responsibility or something. No cat likes responsibility but he might like Chip Shop Adventures #47 and maybe even Chip Shop Adventures #48.
15/03/06 - The week Harold Bishop lost his mind.
The apocalypse is bound to follow! It's enough to make you want to read Chip Shop Adventures #46 which is in a bit of a specialist area this Wednesday. Also updated the artwork section with a black and white piece I've done, click the pic below for a cheeky peep.
What's that over there, way in the distance? Well it's an overdue Nautical Jones #10!
10/03/06 - I need a tree that grows padded envelopes.
The music video is almost finished, I'll create a new section for it with photos of the green screen shoot when it's done. Also had lots of good news about people wanting to screen my work this week which should be fun like jelly on a plate.
It's an extremely cold Friday but that won't stop a rather twisted Chip Shop Adventures #45 from getting to your door and stealing all your cake. Why don't you click below?
08/03/06 - Easter eggs are coming, I can feel it in the air.
Lordy! It's the epilogue to the ghostly storyline with Chip Shop Adventures #44. It's back to good ole' fashioned unpredictable nonsense on Friday!
REMEMBER:
03/03/06 - Who you gonna' call? Ghostbu...no, Super Mario. Quick, water's getting everywhere.
Today I'm directing the live-action parts of the music video I've been working on, we're using a green screen so should be lots of imaginary fun. Just like Chip Shop Adventures #42. and Chip Shop Adventures #43. Best enjoy them with a cup of tea and three biscuits.
Make that four.
01/03/06 - Goodbye winter!
I hope everyone had pancakes last night or else the Pancake God will smite yo ass to pieces. Make it up to him by reading Chip Shop Adventures #41.
24/02/06 - Brrrrrrr.
I'm working flat out on animation for a music video so only Chip Shop Adventures #40 for this snowy Friday.
Coincidently, here's an old photo of the greatest snowman ever created on the face of this earth. I made him in 1990 and he's currently handling disputes in the construction industry for a reasonable price.
A big barrel of THANKS to my good friend Mike Plant who got Coffee Shop Hell up on the IMDB!
10/02/06 - Golden sunny Friday!
Had a week full of animator missions but now it's time to relax and enjoy the next part of the Chip Shop Adventure and another abstract Nautical Jones. We've also updated the links section.
From now on I'll be updating the site every friday, this week it's 3 magical Chip Shop Adventures. Next week a new gory Flash cartoon will be ready for your faces.
21/01/06 - Brand spankin' new doodles.
Happy 21st of January! Have 6 new Nautical Jones comic strips for tea.
